No Need to Reinvent the Wheel

Modeling complex IT systems can be challenging. The examples provided here can serve as a starting point and help accelerate the process of adding new systems in LeanIX. Additionally, you will get an overview of how to model Software-as-a-Service (SaaS), Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS), and Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) models in LeanIX.

Major IT Systems Modeled

Provided standard templates e.g., include:

  • SAP
  • Salesforce
  • Microsoft Office 365
  • Amazon Web Services
  • Microsoft Azure
  • Google Cloud Platform

Please note that your own models may differ from our best practice examples. This could be due to industry-specific Business Capabilities, the required degree of granularity in Technology Stacks, or a need for TRM- or cost-focused reporting which places a stronger emphasis on IT Components.

Import Templates

For most of our provided best practice models we offer import templates. You will always find them underneath the models in a blue information box, such as this one:

Import Templates

Information boxes like this one will provide a link to the import template underneath each model.

In order to successfully use the templates, below are some helpful tips:

  • Download the .zip archive to your computer and save it somewhere where you will easily find it again
  • Make sure to import the Excel files in the correct order, as indicated by the numbers in the first part of the file names
  • After you have finished importing the files, you can start to recreate the best practice model in the Diagrams section of LeanIX
